Jiumozhi takes Duan Yu north, to the residence of the Murong Family in Suzhou, so that the young man can be burnt as an offering to the late Murong Bo. When they arrive at the Murongs' Little House of Zither Melodies, maidservants A'Bi and A'Zhu help Duan Yu escape from Jiumozhi. Then, the two girls and Duan head for the home of the Wangs, who are relatives of the Murongs.

At the Wangs' Highland Manor of Camellias, Duan Yu runs afoul of Mrs Wang, who orders him to be her gardener because of his knowledge of camellias. When Duan meets Wang Yuyan face-to-face in the garden, he is shocked to see that she looks exactly like the White Jade Statue in the Boundless Cavern. Duan and Wang soon hear about the seizing of A'Bi and A'Zhu, as well as the punishment that was about to befall them. Acting quickly, Duan and Wang manage to free the two maidservants after a few heart-stopping moments with a murderous Auntie Yan, and make their escape.
