This story teaches us to look at the types of enemies that our opponent has, in order to understand the character of our opponent himself. Who he is will be shown through who his enemies are.
Friends are difficult to come by, but these friends can also be the friends of others, besides being ours. Furthermore, friends can come in a wide variety, with the good and the bad among them.
But our enemies are those who have sufficient resources to go against us, to the point that they can even incite us into moving forward and taking action. Weak enemies mean that we are weak ourselves; despising our enemies mean that we are despising ourselves. Therefore, our enemies are higher in value, for a highly skilled man's enemy would definitely be another highly skilled man.
'Killing the enemy' means disposing the enemy altogether, or defeating him to the point that he can never ever return. If the enemy still has the slightest thread of breath, he could still have an opportunity to make a comeback.
Therefore, never ever take current victory as an indication of ever-lasting triumph.
