Volume 2 - Minor Limitations

Last update: Wednesday 02 August 2006

This story tells us that the more brilliant a person is, the more likely he would be in succumbing to the ills of the ordinary man. He is just like the gambler who has placed a bet; the larger the bet, the more inaffordable his loss would be. A brilliant man is still human; a highly-skilled master will still make mistakes...

Let stillness stand against ten thousand changes in the state of affairs; respond to a thousand shifts in the circumstances with a hundred million alternatives. So long as the enemy's character is grasped, his strengths and weaknesses will be laid for all to see.

Laughter and tears are merely representations of a person's emotions, but they do not indicate the absence of strength of character. A true man can still break out in joyous song and tearful grief.
